Install error on Windows Mobile 5.0 devices 4 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 24
If you are trying to install Automatic Keylock or CellProfileSwitcher on a Windows Mobile 5.0 device and the error message

"Installation was unssuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions"

appears, here is how to solve it:

  • Copy the attached file regeditSTG.zip onto your phone

  • Unzip it on your phone using the built-in file manager

  • Call regedit.exe

  • Change the registry value
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Security/Policies/Policies/00001001 to the value 1

  • Change the registry value
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Security/Policies/Policies/00001005 to the value 40

After that, you should be able to install the programs.
File Attachment:
File Name: regeditSTG.zip
File Size: 24583

My registry already has those settings (I haven't ever changed them). I get the error message stated above when I try to install from the cab file. Is there another key I might need to change on my Cingular 2125? Thanks for all the help.

Yes, you could try creating the DWORD value "0000101b" and assign it the value 1. This should also work. But it is strange that both you have the values from the beginning and that it doesn't work with these values

I still receive the message that "Installation of Keylock_WM5.CAB was unsuccessful". I have tried running the cab from the storage card and from main memory. I tried it once with only the first registry edits you mentioned, then after adding the 0000101b key, then again after rebooting the phone. What should I try next?

Hmm, no clue, sorry
You are using RegEditSTG, aren't you?
